The Synoptic Portrait of Yehuda Bacon

Accompanying descriptions for the current video installation in the exhibition “Traces and Masks of refugees” in the State Gallery of Lower Austria in Krems an der Donau.

The central Videopiece

is a Sketch in order to visualize the concept of the simultaneously present “multiple Yehuda Bacons” in this synoptic portrait.

Technically Yehuda Bacon talked with 3 women and 3 men in 3 different languages: there were 6 interviews conducted each one of them at least an hour long. The interviews were held in the languages of German, Czech, and Hebrew. In each of these languages Yehuda Bacon spoke once with a woman, and once with a man. All the Conversations have been conducted in the building of the Polonsky Academy for Advanced Study in the Humanities and Social Sciences at the Van Leer Institute Jerusalem.
